Angkor Wat tour “Big Circle”
- 1 Day, 3-5 tamples
- from $22.00/person
Excursions to the Angkor temples are conveniently divided into two main routes: the Small Circle and the Big Circle. Typically, each route is explored in one day. As the name suggests, the Big Circle is longer, covering about 35 km from hotel to hotel. Along this route, you will visit the following temples:
Preah Khan
Neak Pean
Ta Som
East Mebon
Pre Rup
Srah Srang
Banteay Kdei
Banteay Srei
Despite the longer distance, the Big Circle tour often takes less time than the Small Circle because the temples on this route are smaller and quicker to explore. Tickets are required for entry: a one-day pass costs $37, a three-day pass $63, and a seven-day pass $72.
Each temple on the Big Circle is unique, but Banteay Srei holds a special place. Located 25 kilometers from the main group of temples, Banteay Srei is renowned for its preservation and intricate artistry. Its bas-reliefs and statues appear almost like new. The name Banteay Srei translates from Khmer as “Citadel of the Woman.” This temple stands out among Khmer temples for its exquisite artistic detail and elegant decorations. The complex includes three towers housing libraries and sanctuaries. The two libraries are constructed from gray sandstone, while the sanctuary is made of light pink stone.
The Big Circle tour usually takes place on the second day, following the visit to the main temples on the Small Circle route.
